Al is just another of the innocent victims of circumstance. Despite having a loving and diligent owner, he has found himself in the position of having his health compromised and needing a home.
Some time ago, Al's owner took on a job which was a 'live in' position, and meant that she could not take Al along with her. She made the decision that in order to ensure Al's long term care, she would lease him out rather than sell him. She went to great lengths to vet prospective new leasees, and ultimately settled on a woman who not only appeared to be a perfect match for Al, but represented herself as having a very responsible, experienced, and caring philosophy toward the keeping of horses. Al's owner stayed in touch via phone with the leasee.
Recently Al's owner was made redundant from her work. On the return trip to her home town she called in to see her boy, only to find the fat, shiny and healthy boy that she dropped off, standing in a barren paddock with no feed and the water trough dry. Upon speaking to the leasee, she was told that the horse was no longer wanted and that he must be removed from the paddock.
Al's owner was absolutely distraught over both the condition of her boy, and the fact that she had no way of caring for him, or housing him. She was referred to me through a mutual friend, and Al was surrendered yesterday, many tears on his owner's behalf, but at the same time, she was very relieved.
Al has done ARC, jumping, trails, beach riding, and his owner has even taken him on the Barmah Muster. He seems a beautifully natured gent, and we're all looking forward to seeing him back to his stunning self.

*Our sincere thanks to Megan Jones of Kirby Park Stud for her continued support, and for her recent contribution of rugs, which has seen Al decked out beautifully.
Al has now been returned to his owner, who has now managed to get her life back on track, has found new employment, and once again has some stability in her life.
Many thanks to the following people who contributed to the support of Al through a $5 per week sponsorship program: Heather McKenzie, Carol Howard, Deirdre & David Oswald, Joanne & Craig Woolfe,'Fly', Rachael
