Grass Roots
Congratulations to Quest Affiliate Jenelle Gills, (of OTTON - Thoroughbred Rematch Service), forĀ undertaking Quest's first educational classroom workshop!! Jenelle did a sterling job of sharing information with theĀ prep children of Kingsthorpe State School, (Darling Downs, Queensland), in a fun, interactive, and age appropriate manner.
Jenelle worked with the class teacher to present the workshop in such a way as to not only present concepts such as responsibility and compassion, but to also build on many of the children's skill sets; working together in groups, cooperation, public speaking, leadership, and problem solving.
From all accounts, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did Jenelle. The most difficult aspect of the workshop being the judging of the 'Caring for Horses' Competition Sheet. There were so many excellent entries that place-getters were extended to 6th place, with a special Encouragement Award for a 7th. All the entries were laminated and returned to the children with a special "Horse" sticker, so hopefully they will take them home and hang them up proudly.
Thank you to the children of Kingsthorpe Prep for making Jenelle from Quest welcome, and special thanks to the teaching staff of Kingsthorpe State School for being so open to this opportunity.
Below is the winning entry in the Competition, and remember that this little girl is 5yrs old.
Congratulations Estella!
